Living in Saigon Pearl
Saigon Pearl is a riverside group of apartment towers and row houses at 92 Nguyễn Hữu Cảnh in Bình Thạnh, on the edge of District 1 beside the Saigon River. Built from 2005, its towers come in pairs named Ruby, Topaz and Sapphire, with the newer Opal Tower beside them, and an international early years and elementary school is inside.
Families with young children at ISSP inside the complex, and people working in District 1 who want a riverside home a short drive from downtown.
Inside Saigon Pearl
- Ruby towers: A pair of towers on the river side of the complex, among the first finished in 2009.
- Topaz towers: A pair of towers on the Nguyễn Hữu Cảnh side of the complex.
- Sapphire towers: Another pair of towers, named in listings as Sapphire 1 and Sapphire 2.
- Opal Tower: The 41-floor third phase, with apartments, offices and shops, finished in 2020.
- Row houses: Low-rise houses within the complex, alongside the towers.
Schools, health and shopping
- Schools: International School Saigon Pearl (ISSP), inside the complex at 92 Nguyễn Hữu Cảnh, teaches children from 18 months to Grade 5 and is accredited by CIS and NEASC.
- Sport: The complex has a clubhouse, tennis courts and a riverside swimming pool.
- Healthcare: Vinmec Central Park International Hospital, with a 24-hour emergency service and English spoken, is further along Nguyễn Hữu Cảnh in Vinhomes Central Park.
- Parks and water: The towers stand on the Saigon River, and the 14-hectare Vinhomes Central Park riverside park is just to the north.
- Transport: Metro Line 1’s nearest stations are Văn Thánh Park and Tân Cảng, both to the north of the complex.
Getting there
- By road, about 5 km to Bến Thành Market (5 to 10 minutes) and 11 km to Tân Sơn Nhất Airport (10 to 15 minutes), with no traffic.
- Nguyễn Hữu Cảnh runs south from the complex to Tôn Đức Thắng and downtown District 1.
- The Thủ Thiêm Bridge, next to the complex and open since 2008, crosses the river to District 2.
- Metro Line 1, open since 22 December 2024, runs from Tân Cảng and Văn Thánh Park through Ba Son and the Opera House to Bến Thành.
Good to know
- Sunwah Pearl, next door at 90 Nguyễn Hữu Cảnh, is a separate and newer development finished in 2020, so check which ‘Pearl’ a listing means.
- Nguyễn Hữu Cảnh has a long history of flooding in heavy rain: Tuổi Trẻ called it one of the city’s worst-flooded areas in 2018, and VietNamNet still reported deep water there in June 2020.
- Residents on the higher floors catch a steady breeze off the river, Saigoneer noted, because the towers sit in a natural ventilation corridor along the Saigon River.
- The first towers were finished in 2009, so they are older than the neighbouring Vinhomes Central Park and Sunwah Pearl.
