moving to hanoi checklist, Moving to Hanoi checklist: your first 30 days, in order

The newcomers who settle fastest do things in the right order. Here is the sequence we give every client moving to Hanoi.

Week 1: land softly

  • Book a serviced apartment for the first month, do not sign a year unseen
  • Get a local SIM and data on day one
  • Open the maps, food and ride-hailing apps you will live in

Week 2: find your home

  • Shortlist areas using Neighbourhoods, then view homes in person
  • Confirm the all-in cost, not just the rent
  • Sign a lease you have read in English

Weeks 3–4: set up life

  • Complete temporary residence registration (tạm trú)
  • Open a bank account once you have an address
  • Sort transport, a GP, and a vet if you have pets

The shortcut

Nest’s concierge runs this whole sequence with you, from the short-stay-first landing to registration and setup, so your first 30 days take days, not weeks.
