Đặng Thai Mai: what the approved list says
Đặng Thai Mai appears three times in Hanoi’s 2026 to 2030 list for the Tây Hồ ward: the first phase of the road itself, a new route running from alley 50 Đặng Thai Mai through to Quảng Khánh street, and a link joining Đặng Thai Mai to Quảng Bá street and Tây Hồ road. The new Tứ Liên Bridge, the largest project in the list, is nearby.
Two things are worth saying plainly. The published window, 2026 to 2030, belongs to the whole programme rather than to this street. And the road is listed as phase one, which means the work here is staged rather than one job with one finishing date. No completion date for Đặng Thai Mai has been published, and we would rather tell you that than give you a date we made up.
What we can tell you is not a date and did not come from a published plan. Our team in Hanoi told us in August 2026 that the work on Đặng Thai Mai has started and is nearly finished, and that the next areas due to be tackled are Quảng Khánh and Xóm Chùa. That is a colleague on the ground describing what they can see, not a schedule, and we are not going to dress it up as one. It also means the picture here moves: if you are reading this some months after August 2026, ask us and we will check again.
If you are looking at a home on or near this street, ask us what is happening at that address now. If we do not know, we will say so, and we will find out.
We asked our team in Hanoi when the works will be finished. The answer, in August 2026, was that it is impossible to say with confidence. That is not us dodging the question. It is the most reliable answer there is, from somebody who lives in Hanoi and knows these streets, and it means that anyone who hands you a firm completion date is guessing. So the question worth asking is not when the works end. It is what is happening outside the address you are considering, and that is a question we can answer.
Ask us: what works are happening on this street right now, and what should I expect outside this address over the next twelve months?
Phủ Tây Hồ is on this street, and the first and fifteenth are not normal days
There is a second thing about Đặng Thai Mai that agency copy never mentions. Phủ Tây Hồ, arguably the most visited shrine in Hanoi, is at number 52. On the first and the fifteenth of each lunar month, and through Tết, thousands of people come. Traffic on this street on those days is not the traffic on other days. If you work from home and hate being boxed in, that matters more than the square metreage.
What is on the street
Elegant Suites Westlake and Fraser Suites sit on the street. So do Lion Mall and Syrena Shopping Centre, a WinMart, Quảng An Primary School, the Kazakh embassy, Chùa Phổ Linh, Capella Coffee Roaster and Kiez Vegan. The Quảng An pickleball club is thirty metres off it.
Who it suits
Our honest recommendation: this is a lively, extremely well-connected street with a major shrine on it, and it is in the part of Tây Hồ the city is investing in. If you want quiet above everything else, Võng Thị and Nhật Chiêu are quieter streets and always were.
