Living in Đống Đa

Đống Đa is a dense, central area south-west of Hoàn Kiếm. It is home to the Temple of Literature, many of Vietnam's best-known universities and several of the city's leading hospitals.

Đống Đa is Hanoi's most densely populated district: in 2017 about 420,900 people lived in under 10 square kilometres, some 42,300 per square kilometre. The density is broken up by lakes such as Ba Mẫu, Kim Liên, Xã Đàn and Văn Chương.

It is also a working and studying district, with Hanoi Medical University, Foreign Trade University and many others, and head offices of companies such as Petrolimex, VNPT and VPBank. Chùa Bộc street is a known shopping street.
