This is one job carried end to end, at junior and senior level. A renter writes to us, and you take them from that first email to the keys in their hand: the shortlist, the viewings, the negotiation with the owner, and the signing. Most of your week is out in the city, not at a desk.
About the job
Somebody writes to us from another country about a city they have never seen, and you answer it. You work out which apartments are actually worth their Saturday, you drive them there, you argue the rent down with the owner, and you are in the room when they sign. It is not a call centre and it is not a sales floor. You carry your own renters, most of them foreigners who have just arrived, and the part of the job that earns their trust is telling them the flat they fell in love with online has a karaoke bar underneath it. Say that once and they believe everything else you tell them. You are not limited to what is already on the books either: a patch is walked building by building, and you bring us homes nobody else has.
What you will be doing
- Answer new enquiries in Vietnamese or English as they arrive
- Build a shortlist against what they actually said, instead of sending everything on the books
- Run the viewings, including the awkward ones on the fifteenth floor with no lift key
- Negotiate rent, deposit and term with the owner, and put the agreed version in writing that afternoon
- Sit in on the contract signing and the handover so the tenant meets the same face throughout
- Walk your patch building by building, and meet the owners and building managers on it
- Check that the person offering you an apartment is entitled to let it, before anything is promised
- Keep every enquiry, viewing and outcome in our system, so whoever covers your leave is not guessing
What we need from you
- Letting, selling or hospitality work where you dealt with the customer directly
- Working Vietnamese and working English. You will use both every day and neither has to be perfect
- The temperament to tell an owner their asking rent is wrong, and to say it again the following week
- Enough patience to visit the same building again and again before anybody takes you seriously
- Comfortable writing things down. Half of this job is the note you make after the phone call
What we offer
- Junior and senior positions are both open, so you are not applying against one fixed level
- You carry your own renters end to end, rather than a slice of somebody else’s file
- You are not limited to the homes already on our books: what you find on foot is yours to bring in
- Most of your week is spent out in the city rather than at a desk
- Do this for a year and you will know which buildings are worth anything, and that knowledge is yours
